Hood Canal Waterfalls

Day Hike - Hood Canal Waterfalls

Ranger Hole and Murhut falls make for a great combination hike to two different types of water falls. A total of about 4 miles on beautiful rain forest trails makes for a great rainy day hike. This hike is for families only.

Meet at the Olympic National Forest HQ on Black Lake Blvd at 9:30 am on Sunday.  We will caravan from there to the Ranger Hole parking area.  After that hike we will caravan to the Murhut falls parking area.  Drive time is about 1.5 hours.

This hike is a famiily hike and all adults must be accompanied by a child.

Ranger Hole requires caution as there are rocky ledges from which one could fall into the cataracts.  I will be giving strict safety guidelines for where kids and adults can go and where they cannot.

Murhut falls has a rocky area along the river where one can scramble about with parental guidance.  We will err on the side of cautious due to wet and possbily icy conditions.

Both trails are safe, with short areas of graded drop offs at Murhut and no drop offs along trail at Ranger Hole.

There is a cool interpretive trail and historic cabin at Ranger Hole.

We will take a break for lunch during first hike if weather allows or in car after first hike if it is raining a lot.
