Day Hike - Herron Island

Explore private Herron Island in the South Puget Sound on a 6-mile day hike along country roads, trails, and rocky beaches.

At 9:30 am, meet at the intersection of Key Peninsula Hwy and Jackson Lake Rd to convoy to the ferry landing. From Tacoma, take Hwy 16 west toward Purdy and exit onto SR 302 to reach the meeting point.

Herron Island is a private island accessible by ferry.  Since permission is required to visit the island, leaders will obtain authorized guest passes for hike participants before boarding the ferry.  Ferry fare is $3.  Restrooms are not available for the first 2 hours of the hike.  Please plan accordingly.  Bring a brown bag lunch to enjoy on the island.
