  • Strenuous
  • Mileage: 10.4 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 3,100 ft
This Moderate/strenuous trip is to enjoy the vistas of the Pass as well as of the Peak. We’ll start early, stay together as a group, and take it slow, stopping often to savor the unique scenery of the North Cascades. The gentle slope of the first mile gives way to a gradually steepening trail, gaining 2,000’ in the first 4 miles. The trail to the peak is one mile with a 1,000’ gain. Plan on a long lunch to enjoy the views from the top. It’s summer – you’ll need extra water. This trip is part of the Tacoma Hiking/Backpacking Mt. Baker Lodge Hiking Weekend. If you have not hiked with me before, when you contact me about signing up for my hike (via phone or email), please be ready to provide the following information: your full name, telephone number, whether you are a member (what branch and for how long), what your hiking experience is (both with and outside of The Mountaineers), and where you live so I can figure out carpooling. So we can all have a safe, fun trip, everyone is required to carry the Ten Essentials, and be properly attired - no cotton, no blue jeans, no sneakers.
