  • Mileage: 9.6 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 1,500 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 3,270 ft
  • Pace: 2mph average

To be confirmed but tentatively plan on meeting at 8:45am at the Carbon River Entrance.

This hike is now closer to 10 miles round trip since the Carbon River Road is closed to vehicles at the Park entrance, adding another 3 miles from the Carbon River Entrance of the Park to the trailhead. Still worth the effort. And, you get to see the devastation that the Carbon River can create, most recently in 2006 and 2008.  National Park Pass is required.

Full trip details will be sent to all who register soon after registration closes at 5 pm on May 21st. In the interim, please direct questions to the trip leader Elizabeth Nakashima at

COVID-19 Vaccination:

Proof required.   If you do not have a COVID-19 Vaccine badge, please email proof of vaccination or bring it to the trailhead.
