9:00am at Sequim Bay St Park entrance
** MEMBERS ONLY ** 8.4 mi rt, 800' gain. Lovely river trail through lush old-growth conifer forest, over cascading creeks. Further upstream, we'll hike along wild waters and up a quiet canyon in the Buckhorn Wilderness, with lofty scenes and views into Gray Wolf canyon's narrow gorge. Expect a few birds, and more wildlife sights and sounds throughout. A rewarding late fall hike to stretch your legs ! Take either ferry: 7:10am Edmonds to Kingston, or 7:05am Seattle to Bainbridge Island. Recommend arrival at ferry dock 20-30 minutes prior to ferry departure. Located in NE Olympic Peninsula's rain shadow, near Sequim. Slow to moderate paced hike. Cameras and binoculars are encouraged. Hike #67 in Day Hiking Olympic Peninsula. Alternate hike if necessary, due to snow conditions: Dungeness Spit, 9-11 miles RT, 100' gain. Hike #76 in Day Hiking Olympic Peninsula.
