Day Hike - Granite Mountain Trail

Strenuous, beautiful day hike with excellent views. Lookout not open on weekdays, but it's worth it to avoid crowds.

  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 8.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 3,800 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 5,629 ft
  • Pace: av 1.3 mi hr but slower up, faster down

8:00 Trailhead, ready to leave then.

I'm willing to meet and carpool with 1 other person somewhere along I-90, assuming we both wear masks in car, have car air circ on high with fresh air (so no AC), and we crack windows when either of us feels the need. Note: Mountaineers org recommends not riding with non-household members but it's my personal feel that this is safe.

This is a strenuous hike and posted last minute. We want to ascend at a reasonable pace to avoid the heat have a good time. For that reason, no "guests". Mountaineer members only please. Please have done a similar hike of 3k'+ gain recently.

Also, look at recent WTA trip reports. Bug spray recommended.

I am willing to take one other person in my car or ride with another person, meeting along I-90, if: We both wear masks, keep car ventilation on high, crack open windows. (Which of course means no AC). I have been doing that this summer and SEEMS to be safe.
