9:00 AM at Far end of Golden Gardens Park parking lot
I will lead a trip to Golden Gardens (meeting at the far end of the parking lot) on the 15th (0900 meet) and the 16th (0930 meet). Low tides for both days are slated to be a -3.2 with the ebb occurring at 1104 on the 15th and 1148 on the 16th. I want to be there early enough to get a parking place and work the outgoing tide. Folks will be welcome to stay as long as they desire. I'll likely spend about 4 hours for the shoot. There will be LOTS of activity with Great Blue Herons fishing, crows and sea gulls hunting for lots of small crustaceans, the potential Bald Eagle(s), and an abundance of intertidal zone life normally under 20 - 30 feet of water. A pocket sized book of Pacific Intertidal Zone Life might be helpful for those who want to identify everything they come across. It is helpful if it fits in either a pocket or waterproof bag. I use The Beachcomber's Guide to Seashore Life in the Pacific Northwest ($27), 5.5 x 8.5 x 0.5. There will be plenty of Beach Naturalists there also. I'll also suggest knee pads and some form of waterproof foot ware: waders / rubber boots / or zorries for those who don't mind very cold feet.
