Alaska Lake should be a real nice and beautiful, and less crowded place to cool off in after the hike up to it on a hot day! There are also some good grassy areas on the lake to soak up the great scenery, and sun or shade post swim. Berries should be good along the way too. The last mile up to the lake is rather steep and brushy, so this hike should be rated Strenuous, even though it is only 1600 feet gain and 12 mile RT. If you like to use trekking poles, bring them for the decent, and have legs for your shorts handy for the brush. Sandals for swimming if you like. Have your 10 essentials and bring plenty of water. There was a hornets nest on the trail last year, so if your allergic to stings, be prepared. Otherwise it should be all good! We will move at a stay together social pace, and will not hesitate to stop for berries along the way :-).
