Come enjoy views on this moderate-strenuous, but moderately paced hike! The Gold Creek Trail wanders up the valley through old growth timber with views of the creek. Then we climb a somewhat steep mile up to Alaska Lake, which lies below Mt. Thompson. We have the option to go on to Joe Lake if we feel like it, which adds about 2.5 miles round-trip and 400' of elevation gain. Bring sandals as there are several stream crossings and there may not be any log crossings available. There is little space for parking at the trailhead, so please carpool! A Northwest Forest Pass is required.
