8:30 AM at Chinook Pass parking lot
The Chinook Pass parking lot is just east of Chinook Pass on Hiway 410. This is a loop hike going up to Goat Peak on trail 958C and coming back via trail 958B and the Pleasant River Valley trail (999). Views of Rainier and other south Cascade peaks. Recent reports from the trails indicate that it should be mostly snow free, but some snow may be encountered high up on the trail, although the peak is snow free. NOTE: The loop is about 10 miles (rather than the 7 miles listed in the standard route) with a 3200 foot elevation gain.
