Day Hike - Ginkgo Petrified Forest

4 hikes in 1 on this 13 mile, 1800' loop, the old west look and feel of Rocky Coulee, hiking on deer trails up an isolated valley, the huge views on Whiskey Dick Ridge, and finishing along the cliffs of the Columbia. You must have sent/send me photographic proof of vaccination (block your birthday).

8:30 AM at the Rocky Coulee Recreation Area parking lot at the end of Recreation Drive in Vantage. No pass is required and there is a privy.  Here is a google maps location:

3.2 miles of our trip is off-trail. For most of this we will be on one of the many wildlife trails that climb the valley we will be traveling in. For short stretches of this and for a 1/4 mile at the end we will be walking through areas with no trails. It is fairly easy to avoid stepping on most vegetation in these areas. If you are opposed to this sort of thing, I wanted to let you know. My take is that this is back country, this is something that climbers and scramblers do on almost every trip and why shouldn't hikers (especially when it takes you to cool places).

This can be tick country, I did not see any (I was looking closely) on my 2  recent hikes out here. On the 3.2 mile off-trail section, you will be rubbing against quite a bit of vegetation.
