Day Hike - Fremont

Start at the Lake Washington Ship Canal on the Burke Gilman Trail and wind upward on city streets and many stairs to Fremont Peak Park and terrific views. This urban hike follows Walk 2 in Seattle Stairway Walks, Fremont.

We will meet shortly before 9 am outside Theo Chocolate, 3400 Phinney Avenue North. Kindly inform your sweet tooth that Theo hours are 10am to 6pm.

This hike is designed for Mountaineers members with 25 years or more in the club or in or nearing retirement days who enjoy "senior company."  Mountaineers development staff will join us for the joy of the hike and conversations about the future of the club. Our pace will be set at outset to be comfortable for all.

Yes, Fremont has proclaimed  "De libertas quirkas", the liberty to be quirky.  We'll start at the former Trolleyman's Pub, where Redhook Ale launched one of Seattle's first craft breweries. See history here:

Chocolate now rules as Theo's Chocolate.  We'll hike up to Fremont Park overlook and work our way back via other stairways and the classic Fremont sculptures.  If wished, we can venture onto the Aurora Bridge for stunning mid-day views.
