8:00 am at Glacier Public Service Center

This is a ridge hike that offers gorgeous views. We'll take the easier route to Excelsior Pass from the Damfino Lakes trailhead. At that point we'll either hike up to Excelsior Peak, then continue on the High Divide trail, or traverse the peak to the High Divide trail. We'll continue along the High Divide, find a great lunch spot, and enjoy the views. Please be conditioned to hike 10-12 miles, and up to 3,000' elevation gain.

Trailhead is at the end of a 16.7 miles Forest Service road. Recent trip reports indicate it is in good shape, however except about 4 miles of "large potholes, alternating with badly eroded patchy pavement."

This is a view hike, so smoke, haze, rain, or any other view-obscuring weather conditions will cancel.
