This hike takes you through fields, along coastal bluffs, & down along the beach. Mountain views, wildlife sightings, & historic homestead are bonus. Actual hike mileage will probably be more like 6 miles. Since the ferry may be quite busy due to Memorial Weekend, I might suggest that driving around via Deception Pass is a more reliable option (& only adds about 20 minutes to the trip). Plus the view from the Deception Pass bridge is quite spectacular. I think for a carload of 4 people, the cost for mileage & taking the ferry is roughly the same as the mileage cost for driving over the bridge.
