Timed Entry Permits are available at 7:00 pm the evening before you want to go (this means the evening of July 13th). If all participants can obtain a permit for entry between 1:00 and 3:00 pm, then we will start hiking when all have arrived.
Link to Timed Entry Permit information: https://www.recreation.gov/timed-entry/10101917/ticket/10101919
If someone cannot get a permit and cannot arrange carpooling with someone who has one, then we will plan to start hiking at approximately 3:30 from Longmire. NO TIMED ENTRY PERMIT NEEDED AFTER 3:00 PM. However - there may be a line to enter the Park, so you should plan to arrive at the Nisqually entrance at least by 2:30. If there's no line, you'll have to wait outside the entrance until 3:00. I will have to know your plan the night before the hike or very early Sunday morning because cell coverage at Longmire is spotty. EACH CAR ALSO NEEDS A NATIONAL PARK PASS.
Also, please only sign up if you can do this hike at a fairly brisk pace and complete it in 5 hours.
Longmire parking lot, near where you can see the Wilderness Information Center.
