Driving over Mt. Rainier National Parks oldest vehicle suspension bridge, we will find our trailhead. The trail begins in a lovely forest of old western red cedar, Douglas-Fir and western hemlock. We will make our way up a series of switchbacks and then come into an open talus/meadow slope with more switchbacks. As we climb higher, we will have views of Mt. St Helens and Mt. Adams if the weather allows. Once we reach the Eagle Peak Saddle, we will find a spot to enjoy our lunch with outstanding views of Mt. Tahoma. After our lunch break, we will return to our vehicles the way we came.
We will be carpooling from a designated parking area outside the Park and using our timed entry permit (leaders have purchased an entry permit for the 7:00am - 9am slot).
