The plan is to make our way out to the incredible Dungeness Lighthouse, stopping briefly along the way to take in the incredible views. We will spend 30-45 minutes (weather dependent) when we get there for a little lunch and tour of the lighthouse for those who have not been before. This is an 11-mile hike (5.5 out and 5.5 back) on sand. Please wear at least light hiking or trail running shoes for stability.

We will hike generally together, but you are welcome to stop for photos and even a little rock hunting. We just want to make sure the entire group is visible at all times.

My Expectations:
  • All are prepared to hike whatever the weather.
  • Group stays together (to see one another at all times) and supports one another.
  • That we treat one another with respect, compassion and understanding.
  • That you're on time at the parking lot prepared and ready to be social and engaging
  • We'll leave no trace and take time to appreciate nature.
  • There is drinking water at the lighthouse (half-way point)
  • Heavy storms forecast will cause a rescheduled hike

Special Notes: Olympic Peninsula hiking can require planning/reservations for Washington State ferries and ferries will be busy in June.  There is camping available next to the trailhead at a Clallam County Park. Reservations possible up to 2 weeks prior. Use the county website to make reservations. NO PASS IS REQUIRED TO PARK but there is a $3 day use fee required. Look for the large informational kiosk where you can pay your entrance fee. It’s $3 per family or group (which includes up to 4 people) and it is best to bring 3 $1 bills to slip in the envelope.

We will meet at the trailhead at the Refuge parking lot (restrooms available) at 9:30am for brief introductions and plan to be on the trail no later than 9:45am. Refuge parking lot - Google Maps
