9:30 AM at Dosewallips State Park beach access area
Starting in the rainforest, our trail follows the Duckabush river for a few miles, then climbs gradually up and over Big Hump where we meet the river again, only now we're higher up where the rivers rapid turbulent flow make an impressive sight. Lunch is planned for 5 mile camp by the riverside, deep in the rainforest. 10.5 miles round trip, and 1700 feet gain in, and 800 feet gain on our return to the trailhead. Optional dinner stop at restaurant in Quilcene. If heavy rain is forecast , the back-up destination will be Icicle Ridge (Leavenworth), with optional dinner stop in Leavenworth.
