Day Hike - Duckabush River

Big Hump, Duckabush Trail

  • Moderate/Strenuous
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 8.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 1,400 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 1,800 ft
  • Pace: 2 mph

Duckabush trail to top of Big Hump. I usually go to Five Mile Camp, but due to unknown (to me) trail conditions and mid-winter sloth, this hike is shorter and easier than usual. The total distance is between 7.5 and 8 miles, elevation gain about 1400', and average pace 2.0mph, maybe less depending on conditions.  We'll stop for lunch at the top of the hump, and then turn back.

The long range forecast is for a high temp around 35F and variable weather conditions at roughly the elevation of Big Hump. Every time I think there will be snow, it's dry, but maybe this time will be different. In any event, you should prepare as if it will be snowy and windy, just in case we get lucky this time.

See you Sunday.

Meet at the Duckabush Trailhead (the upper area) at 08:30.
