Want to get a nice strenuous hike when everything else is snowed in? Dog Mountain should be knee deep in wildflowers by this time, and Hamilton Mountain-Beacon Rock is described as having amazing views with Mount Hood and the gorge close enough to touch. We will make a vigorous day out of it by combining two shorter hikes with trailheads 18 miles apart. If the group is interested we could also make a car-camp on the Saturday night and do another hike in the gorge the following day. This is a hike for people who are already in very good aerobic condition - please do not choose this trip as a conditioning hike as it will make it difficult for us to reach our destinations. You need to be able to maintain a 2-2.5 mile per hour pace with few rest stops. Call the leader if you aren't sure. Trip may be cancelled or moved if the weather forecast is terrible - too far to drive to hike in the clouds or rain.
