Day Hike - Dirty Harry's Balcony

A good conditioning hike for spring, with an accessible trailhead and low elevation.

  • Moderate
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 4.4 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 1,400 ft

This event date could change due to Covid-19. Currently, The Mountaineers are encouraging groups to minimize carpooling with people you wouldn't otherwise have day-to-day contact with. Due to limited parking at the parking lot, the group size is limited to 8 people.

Since we won't be carpooling, let's meet at Dirty Harry's Balcony/Peak trailhead at 8 a.m. You need a Discover Pass for the parking lot.

Directions: From Seattle on I-90, take exit 38 towards the Fire Training Academy. After exiting, head right at the stop sign and drive 1.8 miles. The road comes to a junction. Turn left to go underneath the freeway and you will see the parking lot ahead of you with a trailhead sign and a bathroom.

Let's try to be on the trail by 8:15 a.m. We'll start off at a 1.5 MPH pace, but if the group is willing, we will increase it to a 2 MPH pace. That should get us to the balcony between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m., where we will break for a snack.

Again, this event date could change due to Covid-19.
