Meet at 9 AM at the trailhead by the parking lot east of Chinook Pass on the left side of SR 410.  Each car parked there must display a Northwest Forest Pass or National Park Pass.  If the parking lot is full, park on the north side of SR 410 between the parking lot and Chinook Pass.  There are four restrooms by the parking lot.

The hike will begin heading south on the Pacific Crest Trail, crossing over the pedestrian overpass at the pass and continuing to the trail junction with the Naches Loop Trail, where we take the left fork, to stay on the PCT.  We continue to the sandy beach at the south end of the lake, which is our lunch stop and opportunity for a swim in the warm, clean lake.

After lunch, we return to the junction with the Naches Loop Trail and take the left fork, which takes us to a viewpoint where in good weather we get a spectacular view of Mt. Rainier.  Then we head downhill to Tipsoo Lake, where there is a restroom by the parking lot.  From there it is a short hike over the pass to the parking lot we started from.

The elevation gain is separated into three parts of 400 feet, 700 feet and 200 feet on well-switchbacked trails, so that it is easy to deal with.

On the drive home, we will have the option for a refreshment stop in either Greenwater or Enumclaw.
