Meet at 9 AM at the Enumclaw Ranger Station, 450 Roosevelt Ave E (SR 410), Enumclaw.

We will consolidate cars at the Enumclaw Ranger Station, where no parking permit is required, due to limited parking space at the trailhead parking lot.  From the ranger station, we will caravan via SR 410 to the parking lot just east of Chinook Pass on the north side of the highway.  Each car parked there must display either the Northwest Forest Pass or a National Park Pass.  There are four restrooms there and there are two at the ranger station, and one at Tipsoo Lake.

Our hike to Dewey Lake will involve hiking south three miles on the Pacific Crest Trail to the south end of big Dewey Lake, where we have our trail lunch at a sandy beach, and will allow time for a swim, if the weather permits.  After lunch, we will return 1.2 miles to the junction with the Naches Peak Loop trail, where we turn left and hike another 1.7 miles to complete the loop.  The hike gains 400 feet to the high point, shortly before reaching the junction where we descend to Dewey Lake.  An additional 600 feet is gained on the return hike from Dewey Lake to the junction.  The final 400 feet is gained at the end of the hike, between Tipsoo Lake and the trailhead parking lot.   About half way between the Dewey Lake trail junction and Tipsoo Lake, we will arrive at a viewpoint where, if the weather is clear, we will have a spectacular view of Mt. Rainier.  This will provide a picture opportunity.

On the drive home, there will be the option to stop for ice cream in Greenwater at Wapiti Outdoors.  Carpooling will work best if those not stopping there carpool together.
