Meet at 10:30 AM at the trailhead parking lot on the south side of S 200th St. in a valley west of the Federal Jail and across the road from a golf course. It is reached by taking the S 200th St exit from I-5, heading west across International Blvd (Pac Hwy S) and continuing past the Federal Jail on the left, down to a traffic light at the bottom of the hill, where you turn left into the parking lot.
This is a very pleasant hike along a meandering stream through a forested valley, arriving at a city park that was formerly a retreat facility, right on the edge of Puget Sound. If the weather permits, we can stroll to the end of the pier after lunch and before heading back to the cars. No parking pass is required. There are portapotties near the lunch spot and restrooms by the pier, but no restroom facilities at the trailhead. We should be back to the cars by 2 PM. This is a good hike for people whose hiking time is limited, and who are looking for an early season conditioner.
