Dege Mtn./ Sourdough Ridge (E) (GT Mt. Rainier East #270; or USGS White River Park & USGS Sunrise quads) (3.5 miles 1000’ gain, high point 7006’) . Family hike, especially for children, but anyone is welcome in Mt. Rainer National Park. Kid’s pace. We’ll start at Sunrise Point, hike to the summit of Dege Peak, then continue along Sourdough Ridge to Sunrise Lodge. Beautiful mountain meadows. We’ll shuttle cars a short distance for this one-way hike. Since this hike has unobstructed views of Mt. Rainier the entire distance and is exposed to wind and rain, we’ll change the destination if the weather is not good.
