4-5 mile day hike (approx 100' gain) will focus on early wildflowers at Pass Island and West Beach. Enjoy early colorful blooms of lovely grass widows, stonecrops, buttercups and more among the madrones on the meadows and rock-studded slopes of Pass Island. We'll look for more blooms on West Beach's revegetating dunes and beachcomb along the beach's rhythmic waves. A good trip for budding naturalists, botany enthusiasts and nature photographers. Expect to see 10-20 plant species. We'll finish about mid-afternoon. Option to extend hiking day to late afternoon along North Beach and forest trails (adding 2-3 miles).
