Go Getter hike. This hike is part of the Conditioning Hiking Series. Please sign up only if you are in the course. (Participants: This is a CHS 1 level hike.) We will start our day at Sharpe Park/Montgomery Duban Headlands, an incredibly beautiful county park filled with forests, wetlands, rocky bluffs, and spectacular views. We will then move on to Deception Pass State Park for some of the best coastline hiking in the Pacific Northwest. This hike will be about seven miles in length with approximately 1000 feet of elevation gain. We will be hiking at a moderate pace, which means traveling a minimum of three miles per hour on flat terrain. Please bring all 10 essentials and remember to wear no cotton, especially jeans. Directions to Sharp Park/Montgomery Duban Headlands Park: From Seattle, take I-5 north. Once you past Mt. Vernon, start looking for exit 230; this is the exit for Hwy. 20. You will need to take exit 230 and take a left at the stop light; you will travel west on Highway 20 for 11 miles. As you approach Anacortes, take a left at the sign for "Oak Harbor, Whidbey Island, Deception Pass". You will travel south on Hwy. 20 for approx. 5 miles toward Deception Pass. You will see the sign for Deception Pass on your right-turn right; his is Rosario Road. Follow Rosario Road 1.5 to 2 miles to the trailhead for Sharp Park/Montgomery Duban Headlands, the trailhead will be on your left. (watch for the giant Dragonfly)
