Day Hike - Dash Point State Park

Come and join me on a nice winter hike in Dash Point. It's a lovely 7 mile hike through a great inter-city park in which you rarely known you are in a city. And we end up stopping for lunch on at the Puget Sound waterfront!

  • Mileage: 7.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 700 ft

We can either meet at the  South Federal Way P&R at 9am and drive as a caravan to the trailhead or  meet at the Dash Point Highlands Park Trailhead at about 9:20am.  No bathroom at the trailhead so may want to stop at a bathroom prior at a gas station or the Winco at  160 SW Campus Dr, Federal Way, WA 98003  which has a bathroom in the front lobby area just beyond Customer Service.

PASS REQUIRED TO PARK:  none at this  trailhead.

This is a surprisingly fun urban hike.  Most of the time you are not even sure you are in the middle of a city.  I did this hike last month and all involved had a great time.  Why don't you come this month!  Also, I just completed a course on the trees of PNW and how forests change over  time; would love to talk about that if anyone is interested.   Lastly, you can learn a little about the area logging history on this hike.

Note:  Many of the hiking trails are shared with bikers so be prepared to yield to the bikers.
