Day Hike - Dash Point State Park

Join the Tacoma Singles Activities Committee for a morning hike at Dash Point State Park. Enjoy a wilderness experience in an urban setting, finishing with lunch at a picnic table beside Puget Sound.

  • Easy
  • Mileage: 5.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 500 ft

Meet at 9:00 AM by the restrooms at the beach just north of the park's main parking lot.  A Discover Pass is required.  We should be finished by 12:30 PM.  A very low tide (-3.5 feet) is forecast for 12:29 PM, so those who are interested can enjoy an optional stroll on the beach after lunch, but that is not part of this hike.

We will hike about five of the 13 miles of forested trails in this 400 acre state park on a loop route, where we can have a wilderness experience close to home.

After completing our loop, we'll take in the view of Puget Sound while eating our lunch at a picnic table along the shore, near the restrooms.  In the event of rain, we can eat at a nearby sheltered picnic table.  Each car will need to display the Discover Pass.

The hike is almost entirely through wilderness, so we can do party separation bathroom breaks as needed, at any of multiple trail junctions.
