Meet at 11 AM Saturday at the trailhead for Damon Point Loop Hike, reached from Hoquiam by  turning left from US 101 onto SR 109, left onto SR 115, left  at Point Brown Avenue, continuing to the trailhead just past where the road bends to the right at the south end of  Ocean Shores Peninsula.  A Discover Pass may be required to be displayed on your car.  There are two portapotties at the trailhead.

Before we begin hiking, I will collect each person's share of the Saturday night camp fees at Ocean City State Park, in cash or by check.  We will start the hike  by heading to the beach and turning left on a counter clockwise loop route around Damon Point.  When we reach a sheltered spot at the tip of the sandspit, we will stop for our lunch break.  At that time bathroom breaks can be taken as needed behind logs.  The only restroom facilities are at the trailhead.  After lunch, we will continue hiking around to the more sheltered side of the spit and cross the narrow part of the spit to return on our initial hiking route to the trailhead.

Following the hike, we will caravan to Ocean City State Park to set up camp, with stops enroute as needed at the IGA grocery store for camp provisions.  After setting up camp, if there is time, we can take an optional stroll on a trail out to the beach and back.  We will have a camp dinner together, followed by a campfire, if fire regulations permit, and roast smores, followed by lively conversation around the fire.

This hike is part of the July 17-18 Ocean City State Park Car Camp, involvlng hiking around Damon Point on Saturday, camping Saturday night at Ocean City State Park and hiking to the end of the sandspit at Griffiths-Priday State Park.  Anyone registering for the July 17 Damon Point hike must also register for the July 18 Griffiths-Priday State Park hike and vice versa and participate in the Saturday night encampment.  Compliance is monitored by requiring leader permission for both day hikes.   Complete information about the car camp can be found on the Tacoma Branch Events Calendar.
