Hike the four mile loop around scenic Damon Point, with expansive views of Grays Harbor and wildlife. This is part of the Ocean City State Park weekend car camp.

Meet at 9 AM at the trailhead, reached from US 101 in Hoquiam by heading west on SR 109, signed to Ocean Shores, turning left onto SR 115, also signed to Ocean Shores, turning left on Point Brown Avenue and continuing to where it bends to the right along the waterfront, where parking is along the road near the trailhead.  Each car parked there must display a Discover Pass or campground receipt.

The 9 AM meeting time is to mesh with the 10:14 AM low tide, so we will have firm sand to hike on throughout our route.  There are portapotties on the trailhead, but not elsewhere on the hike.  At our rest break at the end of the point, there will be opportunities for bathroom breaks behind logs.

Following the hike, we will drive to Ocean City  State Park to set up camp and have a picnic lunch.  Enroute, supplies can be purchased at the Ocean Shores IGA Store.

This hike is part of the September 11-12 Ocean City State Park Car Camp, involving hiking around Damon Point on Saturday, camping Saturday night at Ocean City State Park and hiking up and down the sandspit at Griffiths-Priday State Park on Sunday.  Registration for the car camp is by registering for both day hikes.  All participants in the car camp  must participate in both day hikes and the Saturday night encampment.  Leader permission for the day hikes is required to monitor compliance.
