Meet at 11:30 AM Saturday at the entrance booth to the Ocean City State Park  campground 148 WA-115, Hoquiam, WA, reached by heading south on I-5, west onto US 101, continuing west onto SR 8, again continuing west on SR 12, west again onto SR 109, turning left at SR 115  (toward Ocean Shores) and finding the state park on your right in a short distance.

This is part of the Ocean City State Park Car Camp, involving day hiking Damon Point on Saturday, camping Saturday night at Ocean City State Park and hiking in Griffiths-Priday State Park on Sunday.  Anyone registering for this hike must also register for the Sunday Griffiths Priday State Park hike and participate in the encampment at Ocean City State Park on Saturday night.  Registration for the car camp is by registering for the two day hikes.  Leader permission is required to assure compliance.

If our reserved campsites are ready for occupancy when we arrive at Ocean City State Park at 11:30 AM Saturday, we will set up camp there as soon as everyone has arrived and then have a picnic lunch at the campsite.  If the campsites are not yet available, we will have our lunch at the picnic area and check afterward to see if our campsites are ready.  Next we will drive to Damon Point to first explore the nearby museum and then start our two hour hike.  Following the hike, we can stop at the Ocean Shores IGA grocery store or the ACE Hardware store for any food or gear that people need for the evening.  Then we will return to camp.  If there is time before dinner, we can walk to the beach, or we can do that after dinner to watch the sunset.  Before going to bed for the night we'll have smores around a campfire.

Our camping receipt for Ocean City State Park should be our permit for parking at Griffiths-Priday State Park,  and will definitely allow us to park at Ocean City State Park.  If you are driving and have a Discover Pass, please bring it in case it is needed.  There are nice restrooms at Ocean City State Park and there are portapotties at the Damon Point trailhead, but not elsewhere on the hike.   During the hike, bathroom breaks would need to be behind a log.  No parking pass is required at the Damon Point trailhead.
