This is a tough hike with a great payoff at the top. The views of Crystal Lake below and Mt. Rainier are worth all of the effort. The hike has some very steep parts and a lot of switchbacks. We will generally hike as a group, but not necessarily on top of each other. This will not be a speed training hike, but participants should be able to manage a 1.5-2mph pace with a few rest stops on the way up and down (slower up and a little faster down). We will spend 20 minutes or so at the top enjoying the views, a good snack and some well earned rest.
Again, this can be a challenging hike and we want all participants to enjoy the climb and be successful. Please do not sign up for this one if you have not done a similar hike in the past 30 days or you can contact me to discuss further if you want more information.
We will meet at the trailhead at 8:30am and, after brief introductions, be on the trail by 8:45am.
