7:30 AM at Preston Park & Ride
Break out the wildflower books, binoculars and cameras for this hike through a pristine canyon. Widlflowers usually begin to bloom in mid- to late-March in Cowiche Canyon, which is also a great place for birdwatching. The Cowiche Canyon Conservancy website announced in February that the early spring wildflowers were starting to bloom, and the geology of Cowiche Canyon makes an impressive backdrop for the flowers. The roundtrip hike through the Canyon with side trips to the uplands is approximately 8 miles/ 400’ gain. Cowiche Canyon is on the outskirts of Yakima. Meet at Preston P&R; at 7:30 a.m.
