9am Wilderness Peak Trailhead on SR-900

Foothills Winter Conditioning Hike. This hike is not part of a course and is open to everyone.

Hike up Wilderness Creek Trail, up and over Long View Peak (misleading name because there is no view), loop around on the Deceiver and Shy Bear Trails. Hike down Quarry Trail to Coal Creek Falls, then up Cave Hole Trail. Follow road past Klondike Swamp to the clay pit and the mine shaft, then back on East Fork and Shy Bear Trails to Wilderness Creek. Option to hike up and over Wilderness Peak on the way out.

With all the ups and downs, we will be gaining double the elevation of the high point we will reach. Expect at least 10 miles of hiking with 3000-3500 feet of elevation gain. We will hike at a steady 2.5 mph pace with limited breaks aside from Coal Creek Falls, Klondike Swamp, and the mine shaft.

Hike will go rain or shine unless heavy/steady rain is forecasted.
