Day Hike - Clark Lake Park
Come for some fresh air and exercise the Saturday morning after Thanksgiving in Kent! On this hybrid half day hike/urban walk we will travel from Wilson Playfields to and around a beautiful rural park on the Kent East Hill. Here there are interesting trails to follow, a pretty lake and views too see and information to share on future plans for the park during this 4 mile and 200 ft. gain route.

From the Wilson Playing Fields where we will park and have shelter and restroom facilities we will walk about 4 miles and rise about 200 ft.on trails that include lakeside views and on a clear day a nice view of Mt. Rainier.
Our route will include some paved sidewalks, road shoulder and road crossings to reach the Clark Lake Park where the trails are a mix of dirt, grass and loose rock.
The park is situated on the Kent East Hill. This is a good option for winter trips when the days are shorter and snow can limit hiking in mountains. Sections of the trail could be a bit muddy at this time of year so hiking boots are recommended. But I think you will find it a fun short walk/hike soon after the Thanksgiving festivities that reveals one of Kent's hidden gems.
I propose to lead the trip at a moderate pace: approximately 2 mph average moving speed.
No parking permit or map are needed for this trip. I have it all tracked on GAIA.
During the trip we will keep together as one group, walk single file beside roads and on narrow sections of park trial. Then no more than two abreast on wider trails. We will stop before crossing the road to make sure there is no approaching vehicle traffic. This requirement is to keep safe and to respect other walkers we meet.
