Day Hike - Cispus Pass

Experience an "alpine paradise with some of the best scenery in the Goat Rocks Wilderness". It's a long climb along Nannie Ridge, past Sheep Lake to Cispus Pass, but a well-rewarded endeavor.

  • Very Strenuous
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 13.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 3,500 ft
  • Pace: 2.25 average moving pace

Roseanne Lorenzana conceived this adventure. Due to enthusiastic demand, we are adding more hikes!

  • Those individuals on her waitlists will have priority registration until April 14th
  • This is #5 of 5-day hikes (series 2) in the Goat Rocks & Mt. Adams wilderness areas
  • You are welcome to sign up for one, two or any number of the hikes
  • The elevation gain differs from every source I check. I intend to scout this trail in August and report back
  • Trail links: Cispus Pass
  • Trail names: Walupt Lake #101, Nannie Ridge Trail #98, PCT
  • Route type: Out and back
  • Please be properly conditioned & equipped to do these hikes. The elevation here is higher than many WA hikes.
  • Temperatures in September average 40°F low to 74°F high in Packwood, WA
  • It’s ~4 hour drive from Seattle to the Walupt campground, or ~1 hr drive from Packwood.
  • Participants are responsible for their own transportation and accommodation arrangements.
  • The leader will be camping at Walupt Lake campground Tues night through Saturday night (16-20 Sept) departing on Sunday Sept 21st.  I am in site #39
  • Packwood area options include hotels, Airbnb, Hipcamp, and an Outdoorsy rental. Given the history of wildfires and smoke, you may want to ensure the ability to cancel.
  •
  • This week of September is the last this campground will be open for the season. Reservations are open now and there are also first-come-first-serve campsites. See Walupt Campground
  • Hunting season is likely to be open

My Style: Welcome & thanks for finding me here and sharing the outdoors. I thrive in nature and hope you do too! I love creating and leading hikes where we move at a good pace (with “joy stops”) while experiencing what hiking is all about – enjoying Nature’s offerings and surprises together. My primary role is to facilitate a safe experience physically and mentally, so I take that seriously.  For me, the best hikes are those where we each contribute to the experience by sharing knowledge, humor, or quietly engaging.

I look forward to seeing you on the trail if this sounds like a fit for you!

My Expectations: 1) arrive personally prepared & conditioned, 2) adopt a visitor mindset, and 3) create harmonious vibes.
