Please join us this Saturday, April 2, on another easy hike at a leisurely pace in our Social Hiking Series. These bi-weekly hikes are designed for those who may be slower hikers, new to the hiking scene, not ready for a big, strenuous haul, or who might just want to take time to stop and smell the roses (or trees as it were), with like-minded UTHRS. These hikes are definitely NOT a race to the top of the mountain! They will have a late start time of 10:00 a.m., and the shorter trails close to Seattle (no more than 1-1/2 hours away) will allow for a light late-morning workout with time to get those last minute things done in the afternoon. For more information, contact Carey Purnell at careybeth34@hotmail.com. This Saturday, April 2, we will go to Cedar Butte with a little side trip to the sound garden at the Cedar River Watershed Education Center at Rattlesnake Lake. The hike to Cedar Butte is 3 miles RT and 900 feet of elevation gain. The side trip will add about a mile RT with almost no elevation gain, for a total of 4 miles RT. Meet at 10 am at the Issaquah Park & Ride (I-90 Exit 15), north end, to carpool to the trailhead. Leader: Sabrina Oesterle, soe@earthlink.net, 206-361-0716.
