Day Hike - Capitol Land Trust

This Family Stewardship activity gives us special access to Capital Land Trust's Inspiring Kids Preserve. There we will help help keep the scientific restoration plots free from invasives by weed pulling, wacking, and mulching. Then we will walk along the Henderson Inlet waterfront and have time for lunch and a talk about the special nature of this preserve.

  • Elevation Gain: 200 ft

This is such a great opportunity for your kids (and you) to learn about the restoration of this preserve, removing invasive plants and planting new native ones. Kids will also get to learn to use tools appropriate for their age to remove blackberries and other weeds. Tools and some gloves provided.  We will also be mulching which is great for all ages.

We believe that stewardship of the land goes hand in hand with other Mountaineers activities in order to preserve the recreational opportunities we all enjoy.

Our Capital Land Trust liaison will give us a tour and direct our activities.

Don't forget your picnic lunch for after our activities.

We will meet at the private entry way to Inspiring Kids Preserve at 10:00am and be done with our programming by 12:00 noon, leaving enough time for your family to have a picnic lunch on site. Directions will be mailed with the informational email before the trip but the preserve is out Johnson Point road in NE Olympia.
