Priority will be given to Tacoma BRGCC students needing a conditioner for credit or with glacier climbs scheduled in June. Successful completion includes the ability to carry a pack weighing the greater of 25 pounds or 20% of your body weight (35 pounds for a 175 pound person) and keeping up with the leader/group. Dress for the weather and keep in mind that the weather can change very rapidly on Mt. Rainier so rain gear, insulating layers and your 10 essentials are required. We will meet at the Paradise Visitors Center at 8:30 AM and be on the trail no later than 9:00 AM. Round trip is 9 miles with 4,600' elevation gain. This is typically an 8 hour round trip hike which is very consistent with the pace used to climb Mt. Rainier. Our absolute turn around time will be 2 PM.
