  • Strenuous
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 9.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 1,700 ft

Leader will be coming from White River campground so will have to meet you at the Sunrise Parking lot.  Meet there at 9:00 am.  Look for my gold colored Toyota 4-runner license 310 ZXB.  Participants may wish to meet up prior to this to carpool; good locations to meet include the Safeway parking lot in Enumclaw on Hwy 410.   Any car entering the park needs a National Park pass or will need to pay the $20 fee.

Even though this is a holiday weekend, the relatively early start will help avoid being too crowded. Pace will be moderate; although there is not a lot of elevation gain, the effect of the altitude is noticeable for most people.  Bring at least 1.5 L of water, plus rain gear which could also serve to block wind if needed.  Current forecast is for temps in the high 40's-low 50's at elevation-- so bring warm layer, hat and gloves to stay warm at stops. A light snowfall is predicted for mid-week but not significant accumulation; clearing on Sat with part sun on Sunday.  If visibility is poor, we may choose to do an alternate location likely Upper Palisades lake.
