We'll going up by way of a jeep track, hiking east on the spine of Umtanum Ridge and then completing the loop through a stretch of overland travel. Because of the rougher terrain and length the trip shoulc be considered more as a strenuous hike rather than the moderate level of the standard description. Sturdy boots will be necessary and long pants should be available. It's a good area for spring conditions, snow free and with expansive views from atop Umtanum Ridge, albeit at the price of over a 2 1/2 hr. drive. Birds and wildlife are often to be seen and I hear desert flowers are now out. Lynn Graf is co-lead.
