Day Hike - Big Creek Loop

Join us for a casual mid-week, late fall hike on a classic Olympic Peninsula trail full of moss, lichens, fungi, trees, and creeks. The loop is 4.3 miles with 800 feet of elevation gain; if we have great weather, clear skies and participants want to go further, we may go on up the trail about 1 mile and 900 feet of elevation gain to a look-out with views of the Hood Canal and Lake Cushman.

  • Mileage: 7.7 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 1,800 ft
  • Pace: 1.5 to 2.0 mph

Details about meeting location and time will be provided in a separate e-mail 2 to 3 days prior to the hike.

Given that this hike is in mid-November and the chances of rain are quite high this time of year, we'll hike unless weather conditions are very uncomfortable or dangerous,  examples being very heavy rain or high winds in the forecast.  All participants must provide proof of COVID vaccination WHEN THEY SIGN UP for this hike by e-mailing a picture of your vaccination card to the hike leader.  Block your date of birth if you want.  Dress/pack for changing weather conditions and pack a snack/lunch and plenty of water.
