Big Creek Loop

Day Hike - Big Creek Loop

We will hike clockwise and if weather permits add on the lookout and short connector to Mt. Ellinore trail. Pack layers as it often rains, microspikes to get in the habit and your winter pack 10 essentials.

  • Easy
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 8.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 1,200 ft
  • Pace: 1.5 mph

Prepare for early start there will be a follow up email with details.  Come prepared for Winter hiking, layers, gloves, microspikes, no cotton, rain gear and pack covers. I like gaiters to keep dry and warm.  Trail can be muddy in spots so bring shoe bag and change of shoes. We will hike together as a group. Leave no trace. No bathrooms at trailhead.

The lookout and connector trail to Mt. Ellinore should add interest and extra length to this well used trail. This is an inclusive hike in alignment  with Mountaineer values and culture.

Due to limited day light be prepared to maintain a steady pace to complete this hike before light runs out. Group will evaluate at lookout, time/distance/ how we feel.  If weather is bad ( too windy in trees/dangerous ) or snowy Icy roads I will call the hike the day before.

Otherwise should be a great day to get out and stretch!
