Day Hike - Bayshore Preserve

This family hike at Capitol Land Trust's Bayshore Preserve, close to Olympia, is a great fall wildlife experience! This hike should coincide with the peak of the chum salmon spawning activity. THIS HIKE IS LIMITED TO ADULT PARTICIPANTS WITH CHILDREN.

We will be hiking along several short trails by the estuary and Johns Creek to view the spawning salmon. The Shelton Timberland Library will be providing several activities for the children to enjoy. We should be finishing up by 11:45. A snack will be available  to enjoy as well.

Bring your binoculars or use ours to see the salmon up close.

Please dress warmly for the weather in layers and remember your rain gear. 

This hike is for kids accompanied by an adult. Single adults admitted only if they do not displace any families.

All participants must be registered.

This activity is appropriate for kids 3 and over or infants in packs.

We will meet in the parking lot at 9:45 a.m. No parking pass is required. A map of the trail will be provided in the Hello Family Hiker email. More information on the location and parking will be sent to registered participants a few days before the hike.

The Ten Essentials for all adults. Modified ten essentials for kids according to age. All ages expected to have a good backpack with waist strap, spare clothing, water, food, rain gear, and ID.

A pad to sit on might be helpful. 

Nature guides and fish/bird/animal apps add fun.
