Day Hike - Around South Tiger Mountain

Second half of Phase 2 Double Feature to explore the the less used areas of Tiger Mountain State Park

  • Moderate
  • Easy
  • Mileage: 7.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 1,600 ft

8:30am at the southern Tiger Mountain Trail trailhead, near State Route 18 and Issaquah-Hobart Road.

Carpooling is discouraged except among members of the same household.

This hike has been cancelled because not enough people from the Monday hike to Tiger 2 also wanted to go on this Thursday hike to South Tiger.

In addition to the hike description be sure to read the "COVID-90 NOTES" below before signing up.

This is the second of a pair of trips ("Phase 2 Double Feature") for people who would like to do more than one hike per week during Phase 2, which allows multiple hikes per week with the same roster.  Participation is limited to people who are also signed up for the West Tiger 2 hike on the preceding Monday.  People signed up for the Tiger 2 trip automatically have Leaders Permission to sign up for this one; no need to ask, just go ahead and sign up.  If fewer than 3 people sign up for this trip it will be cancelled.

We'll start at the trailhead at the southern terminus of the Tiger Mountain Trail and do a clockwise loop around South Tiger Mountain, heading via the South Tiger Traverse Trail and returning via the Tiger Mountain Trail.  We'll also take the small side trip up to the viewless summit of South Tiger.

Most of the trail is multi-use for hikers and equestrians, so we may pass by horses occasionally.

  • This is a Phase 2 trip.
  • All participants must agree to the COVID-19 Code of Conduct.
  • Participants are limited to no more than one trip per week, or multiple trips with the same roster (as per WA guidelines to limit exposure to no more than 5 people outside your household per week).
  • All participants must bring hand sanitizer and a mask that you can quickly raise and lower as needed on the trail (usually a bandana).
  • This trip is open only to those who live local within 125 miles of the souther Tiger Mountain Trail trailhead (near the intersection of State Route 18 and Issaquah-Hobart Road).
  • The trip will be updated if County guidelines change in advance of the trip.

Other Leader Notes:

Group will stay together and hike at the speed of the slowest participant.  Arrive at meeting place 10 minutes early and fully prepared.
