9:00 at Constellation Park from - stairs that are right near 64th & Beach Drive.
9am-Noon (flexible) Explore the area for gunnels, periwinkles and other snails, several species of crabs, anemones, sea stars, heart cockles, limpets, nudibranchs, limpets, sand dollars, sponges, featherduster worms, barnacles and beach hoppers, sea squirts, sea cucumbers, amphipods and algae. We'll talk about plant/animal adaptations. Bring liquids, hat, sunscreen, rain jacket - just in case and fieldbook if you have one. Just before noon, those who want to can munch on sack lunches and discuss what we saw. If you plan on getting your feet wet, canvas shoes are best. Rubber boots work well. Wet feet are not required. Take the West Seattle Bridge off I-5. Follow the highway towards West Seattle. Take the Harbor Ave SW exit off the bridge. Follow Harbor Ave SW, which becomes Alki Ave SW. Stay on Alki Ave SW until it becomes Beach Drive SW (this is beyond the sign that says Arterial Turns, the arterial - Alki Ave - takes a left to become 63rd Ave SW). Stay on Alki Ave SW beyond the Alki Lighthouse, begin looking for parking (on street) around the intersection of Beach Drive SW & 64th Ave SW. Day of the trip cell: 206-418-9149
