Cross-country Ski - White Pass Nordic Center

Join us for a fun day as we practice our classic ski tour skills at the beautiful White Pass Nordic Center. This is an advanced beginner groomed trail system with gorgeous scenery. This trip is rated as moderate due to total distance for the day.

We will start out with a few stretches while we get to know each other then begin with a short ski at the practice area to check the conditions for the day and equipment if you are renting. PLEASE CLICK (MORE+) and read carefully before signing up.

Morning Ski: The morning plan is to ski the upper beginning with easy (green) and intermediate (blue) trails, these trails may include depending on conditions Dog Lake, Heatherstone and Dark Meadows. We will take breaks every 45 minutes or when necessary. Please bring any snacks and water you may need.  

Lunch: There are outdoor picnic tables. We can also bring our lunches into the yurt. There are beverages and chili to purchase there as well. 

Afternoon Ski: After lunch we will include green to start and some easy blue. Grades range from flat to easy to moderate. 

Expected Skills: Good speed control with a snowplow on downhills is most important. 

Hazards: Please be mindful that this is a shared space with other recreation enthusiasts such as skate skiers and snowshoers. Remember skiers etiquette. Watch behind you if you ski outside the classic track and far off to the side if you are stopped on hills. Follow rules posted on all signs.

This trip will finish around 2:30 pm. 

Maps and Carpool information will be sent out a few days in advance to participants of this trip.

We will meet at the Nordic Center at White Pass by the ski stands at 9:00 am with skis on ready to go. Read more about the WHITE PASS NORDIC CENTER.

Special Note: White Pass Nordic Center is asking all customers to have an account in our eStore. Please create one prior to arriving at the Nordic Center if you don't have one already. This can be done on-site via your smartphone on the White Pass Guest Wifi if your service is lacking. Cost for XC day pass is $33.

Rentals: Are available beginning at 8:30 at the green yurt. Cost for rental skis including boots and poles is $34.

Carpool: This is a 3 hour drive from Seattle to White Pass. WSDOT Camera. Leader lives in Puyallup and can take 3 additional riders. Mountaineers carpool practice. Cost for carpool from Puyallup is about $10 pp. Other carpool arrangements to be made by the participant.
