9:00 am Winthrop Town Trailhead and Rink (use upper parking lot). Details on how to find the meeting place will be e-mailed to those who register several days before the trip.

This trip is open to members and guests 16 years or older. Although listed as "Easy/Moderate" the standard of skiing required will involve good wedge descents and herringbone climbs for hills and a good level of fitness and stamina.

Depending on snow conditions and the latest Methow Trails grooming report, we will ski part of the  Methow Community Trail west towards Wolf Ridge and include part of the Winthrop Trail and the Bitter Brush and Barnsley Lakes Loops. Or we will carpool to Sun Mountain and chose trails there. Either way the trails should be well groomed with classic track and skate lane trails and some small hills that will require a good wedge brake and wedge turn to descent and herringbone to ascend some sections. Classic waxless skis preferred, but skating is also an option.

I expect we will ski about 20 K (12 miles) round trip. An Methow trail pass is required for everyone 18 years and older. This is $ 22.00 for an adult day trail pass available on line or from sports outlets in Winthrop, Sun Mountain Lodge or Mazama. For details visit:

Anyone 17 years or under ski for free!
