We will meet at the Lake Wenatchee North Snow-Park area at 1PM, where we will begin the ski trip.
Parking at the trail requires a Snow Park Pass with Groomed trails sticker.
We will plan to ski the outer loop and some of the inner loops in the North Park area. There are a total of 5.3 k of scenic trails which loop through the campgrounds, follow the river and lake shores, and run through quiet stretches of forest.
Maps of the sno park locations and trails can be found here: Leavenworth / Chelan | Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission
Most of the trail is rated "easy" but there are a few sections with some hills that require herringbone and snowplow skills to navigate. This may be challenging for beginning cross-country skiers.
Please note that grooming typically takes place Thurs-Sunday, so the trail may not have been recently groomed on our ski day.
Snow conditions may necessitate alternate ski routes.
Additional Notes: Due to the traveling distance, the ski trip is best done as an overnight.
Travel: Driving distance from Seattle is 110 miles (a little over 2 hrs) traveling over Stevens Pass (Hwy 2), or 148 miles (about 2.5 hrs) traveling over Snoqualmie Pass (I-90) and Blewett Pass (Hwy 97). It will be necessary to either have 4 wheel drive with good traction tires and/or carry chains during the winter time. Carpooling is also an option and more information will be shared as we get closer to the trip time.
Lodging: There are many lodging options available, both in Plain (http://www.beavervalleylodge.com ) and in nearby Leavenworth http://leavenworth.org/lodging/
